Searches continue for missing student Michael Bugler

Searches are continuing around Galway city for missing student Michael Bugler. The Ennis native, who is a studying law at NUI Galway, has been missing since the early hours of last Friday morning. The 20 year old was last seen walking near his home in The Claddagh at 1am after he left the Quay’s Bar. CCTV footage tracks him as far as passing the Claddagh Church as he appears to be on his way home to Fairhill Road.

Cllr Charity demands increased security after courthouse stabbing

There has been a call for heightened security at Galway Courthouse following a serious incident yesterday (Wednesday) morning. Gardai on the premises rushed to the scene following a stabbing in the foyer at around 11am. It is understood a dispute between members of two feuding families broke out while court was in session.

Elderly woman dies in Oughterard house fire

An elderly woman died after a fire broke out at her home in Oughterard yesterday afternoon (Wednesday). Gardai, three units of the local fire brigade and an ambulance attended the scene, after the alarm was raised by locals at about 12noon.

Right2Water Galway will hold a protest outside Mill Street Garda Station today from 12 noon, against what it alleges is Government use of the courts and Gardaí "to attack legitimate protest against Government policies".
